Disabled Options for Canberra Airport Car Rental
When making travel arrangements, please advise your airline or travel agent of any special requirements that you have. They can then plan for and provide things like wheelchairs for use getting onto and off the plane, staff to help and booking a guide dog onto a flight.
The travellers drop-off area is located on the upper level of the road system, giving access directly into the Departures Concourse. There are road ramps to allow easy access to the pavement. Vehicles must not be left unattended.
There are disabled parking bays in all carparks, and the pay machines are accessible for those in wheelchairs. The terminal is fitted with lifts and escalators to make moving between levels easy for everyone. Hearing Loops are installed at boarding gates, baggage claim belts, check in counters and retail areas- this is an advantage of a brand new terminal! Also for the hearing impaired are televisions with text captioning and public telephones with TTY capability.
All passengers are subject to security screening before boarding, and the security officers are trained in screening methods for people with disabilities and special requirements. A hand search is necessary if you are in a wheelchair, and a private screening room is available for this if you prefer.
